This is an educational and spiritual experience in which you will get closer and learn more about the very interesting Mayan culture: meliponas bees, Mayan mythology, medicinal plants, Mayan cultural identity and cosmovision, calendar, the men of corn… Visit a beautiful but less known archaeological area and experience a Mayan ceremony. All this surrounded by nature, cenotes, cabins, and experts on the subject that will transmit their knowledge with great affection.

Mérida Airport – Muná viewpoint, honey bees and walk – Mun-Ha

Upon arrival at the airport, we will take our transfer to the Mun-Ha ecotourism complex (approximately 1 hour). This cooperative is formed by indigenous and peasants and they have a very nice rural tourism project that combines the conservation of nature and traditional Mayan culture. We will settle in our huts and we will go to the viewpoint of Muná, where, besides appreciating its beautiful views, we will learn about the meliponas bees and its importance in Mayan life, and then we will take an ecological tour visiting nearby caves, where we will learn about Mayan mythology like what is an alux? What is the Xtabay or the Xibalbá?

We will return to Mun-Ha to take our dinner in a beautiful palapa and then we will rest.

Mun-Ha – Viewpoint Muná, workshop and medicinal plants – Mun-Ha cultural identity and Mayan calendar

After our rich breakfast, we will go to the viewpoint of Muná again. This time our host will have everything prepared so that we participate in a workshop of engraving jícara, that is a natural fruit of the Peninsula of Yucatán that was used by their ancestors to store food or water. We will see all the crafts that can be made with natural fruits, and then we will take a tour to see medicinal plants. We will return to our palapa in Mun-Ha to eat deliciously, and save some energy for the afternoon activities.

Ready? You will continue to learn a lot about this very interesting Pre-hispanic culture. We will have a session in which an anthropologist will speak to us about Mayan cultural identity and its cosmovision. Many myths will break! Then a specialist in Mayan astronomy will offer an interactive talk to teach us about the concept of time through the Mayan calendar. Are you curious to know what your Mayan horoscope is? Mun-Ha – Archaeological Site Oxkintok ceremony – Cenote – Mun-Ha trail and Men of Corn

We will take our breakfast and we will go out to see the interesting and less known archaeological site of Oxkintok. This will be a special visit, as it will come with a Mayan religious ceremony, with a traditional doctor. After this beautiful experience, we will refresh ourselves at a beautiful underground cenote (in maya: dzonoot) and we will return to Mun-Ha for our lunch.

After a break, we will make a tour of the facilities of the experimental plot for the recovery of Creole maize, we will talk about the Man of Corn. Rest of afternoon free to enjoy our surroundings. Dinner and overnight at the cabins.
