Meals plan: B/-/-
Today we will enjoy the wonderful Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve, 90 km from Mérida, which, thanks to its 600 km2 territorial extension, occupies Yucatán and Campeche. It is known as the winter refuge of thousands of pink flamingos and other species and has an unique ecosystem! Since it combines the fresh water of Celestún with the salt water of the Gulf of México. We will sail in our boat through natural tunnels of mangroves and we will enjoy the natural spectacle of these incredible birds. The place also enjoys extensive beaches that are plagued by coconut trees. We will eat and in the afternoon we will return to Mérida to rest from this exciting day! Free night.
Mérida – Hacienda henequenera – Cenote – Uxmal
Meals plan: B/L/-
Today we will learn about the whole process of transformation of Henequén (also known as Green Gold in this region), from the plant to the fiber, and from the fiber to the finished product. We will also have the opportunity to see the old machinery that has been rescued from the ravages of time and rebuilt to its precise operative capacity. Our tour will also include a visit to a typical Mayan house where we will meet a charming Mayan grandfather who hardly speaks Spanish, and he will show us characteristic Mayan elements. At the end we can enjoy a refreshing dip, where you can swim with great security in the refreshing waters of the Hacienda’s cenote. Lunch in the restaurant of the Hacienda to taste the delicious Mayan cuisine. After lunch, we will go towards Uxmal and we will settle in our hotel.
